Christ Church Hillbrow is a Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church, belonging to the REACHSA denomination.
Below is an explanation of what this means:
The Reformation was a movement that took place in the 16th Century Europe. ‘Reformed’ means that we continue to hold to the thoughts and beliefs that were rediscovered then, and affirm the Bible as our final authority.
Evangelical comes from the word meaning gospel. That is the good news that Jesus Christ died for sinners and rose again and that because of his sacrifice we can be forgiven and become children of God. This is central to the Bible’s message and therefore the focus and centre what we teach.
Anglican describes the way in which we are governed and the truths which we affirm. As an Anglican Church, we are not an independent church but are under the authority of our Bishops and Synod.
While we are Anglican in doctrine and practice we are not part of the Anglican Communion.
